Freedom of Information Act

On February 14,1967, Arkansas adopted one of the strongest and most comprehensive Freedom of Information Acts in the nation. It gives our citizens an opportunity to look at a broad array of information at every level of government and to observe the actions of our government leaders. It also promotes and protects the rights of individuals to attend the meetings of policy-making, tax supported bodies.

The Fayetteville Police Department accepts FOIA requests on a daily basis and is always willing to assist citizens in obtaining information. Most records requested by FOIA requests, are granted and sent back to the requester. However, some records such as open case files or cases awaiting judication, are not released as they are no longer under our control.

If you have any questions about FOIA, please feel free to call us at 479-575-8351. Please see the attached list of forms that may be filled out and sent to the Fayetteville Police Department.
