City Council
The City of Fayetteville operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. In this system, the City Council is the legislative and policy-making body of city government. The Fayetteville City Council sets City policy by passing ordinances and resolutions. The Council also determines the City budget and appoints and removes certain Board, Committee, and Commission members.

- When and where are the City Council meetings?

The City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month in Room 219 of the City Administration Building located at 113 W Mountain Street. When a holiday or general election occurs on any such Tuesday, the regular meeting shall be held on the following Thursday at the same hour unless otherwise provided for by motion.

If you wish to address a City Council agenda item you may do so after the Mayor calls for public comment during the City Council meeting.

City Council meetings are televised live and rebroadcasted at various times on the Government Channel (Cox Channel 216 through local cable, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, and streaming live on the City's YouTube channel. Videos of past meetings may be viewed on demand in our archive.
- How can I place an item on the City Council Agenda?

To request an item to be placed on the City Council agenda you must contact a Council Member or the Mayor. Upon full review the item may be placed on the agenda at the Council Member or Mayor's discretion.
