Donated by the United States Veterans Affairs in 1964, Gregory Park is a 19-acre wooded parcel located off College Avenue (U.S. Highway 71B) on Sycamore Street. The park was called Veterans Park until 1978 when the name was changed in honor of James K. Gregory, a pioneer businessman in the community who helped establish the Drake Field Airport.
This heavily wooded park features a .6-mile perimeter natural-surface walking/biking trail with benches and a pavilion. In 2018, with the help of the Ozark Off-Road Cyclists, extensive biking facilities were added to Gregory park, including a concrete pump track, a bicycle skills course, and two one-direction natural-surface downhill mountain-bike trails. These trails are open to the public, and are also used as a practice course for regional school teams participating in the National Interscholastic Cycling Association mountain-biking program for student athletes.
