Within the American Rescue Plan, the U.S. Small Business Administration developed a new program called 'The Community Navigator Program. The American Rescue Plan allocated $100 million in grants to organizations providing technical support for economic recovery.
The program helps traditional business assistance organizations enlist trusted, culturally knowledgeable partners who conduct targeted outreach to underserved sectors of the entrepreneurial community. "Considered a cultural change to break long pre-existing roadblocks for small business owners, the Community Navigator approach will help increase the reach for minority-owned, rural-owned, and many other under-engaged small businesses" U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Department of Economic Vitality is actively working to connect the City's economic development efforts into this new program.
