Commercial burns in the City of Fayetteville require a Commercial Burn Permit, which require an inspection by the Fayetteville Fire Marshal's Office. Call 479-444-3448, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. to schedule an inspection.
The following conditions must be met for a Burn Permit:
- Burning material must be a minimum of 50 feet from any structure
- Area must be cleared around burn piles
- Piles determined by the Fire Marshal to be too large must be broken into smaller piles
- Means of extinguishment must be available and ready to use (water or heavy equipment)
- Fire must always be attended by a responsible person
- Fires must be extinguished by dusk, no burning through the night
- Burning will not be allowed with wind speeds greater that 12mph as determined by the National Weather Service: View current weather conditions.
- Burning will not be allowed with a relative humidity of less than 35 percent as determined by the National Weather Service.
- Burning will only be allowed when the air quality index as determined by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality is Good (Green) or Moderate (Yellow). View the current air quality index.
A Commercial Burn Permit may be revoked for any of the following reasons:
- An offense is caused to neighbors near the fire
- Weather conditions change, creating possible hazards
- Smoke blowing across road or highway creates a hazard
