Low Income Household Water Assistance Program

This federally-funded program, administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Arkansas Energy Office, helps qualifying low-income households pay their water bills.

How Does it Work?

Once a qualified household is enrolled, the program will pay the water and sewer portion of past due bills. This also includes penalties and reconnection fees if a customer has been disconnected for non-payment.

Once the City has received payment from the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) and posted it to the customer's account, we will notify the customer to inform them 1) the amount the City received from LIHWAP and 2) what are their past due and current account balances. Once payment is received, the City will not disconnect the customer's account for 90 days to provide time for the customer to catch up on payments.
