Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals

The Housing Board of Adjustments and Appeals was created by Ordinance 2251 on July 6, 1976 and was amended by Ordinance 2324 on April 5, 1977. It was later referred to as the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals in Ordinance 4044. Ordinance 5761 was passed on April 7, 2015 to enact Article XXVII Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals in Chapter 33 Departments, Boards, Commissions and Authorities of the Fayetteville Code.

The purpose of the board is to hear and to act upon appeals regarding decisions made by the Building Inspector / Superintendent. The Board also hears appeals regarding construction materials to be used in new building construction and development. In addition, the Board hears appeals regarding enforcement of the minimum housing standards for existing structures as specified in the International Building Codes.   • Full Member: Staggered five-year terms, ending March 31
  • Alternate Member: five-year terms, ending March 31

Members

The Board shall be composed of nine members:

  • Seven full members
  • Two alternate members.

Appointment

Vacancies on the Board are filled by appointed by the governing body of the city.

Public Notification

A weekly meetings list is prepared by the Office of the City Clerk Treasurer; it is distributed to the press and posted online.
