Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) was created by Ordinance 1526 on January 3, 1967, to act in an advisory capacity to the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Mayor, and City Council on all policy matters pertaining to the Parks and Recreation Department activities. Ordinance 1526 has since been amended by Ordinance 3058, 4290, 4544 and 5158.

The duty of the Board members is to stimulate and encourage communication with all members of the community to ensure that programs, goals, and objectives are consistent with community needs and desires. PRAB members work in the public interest and speak for the general community.

Annually, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board develops a suggested work program and operating budget to be submitted to the City by November of each year for the subsequent year. The Parks Board also recommends priorities for capital improvements and means for financing the same, and prepares an annual progress report on parks and recreation activities.
