FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— The City of Fayetteville’s Parking Management and Engineering Divisions will oversee maintenance construction on the Block Avenue parking lot, located south of Spring Street from Block Avenue to East Avenue. The Block Avenue lot will be closed beginning on Monday, February 24. Depending on the construction schedule and progression, unaffected portions of the lot may remain accessible for parking during some nights and weekends, however overnight parking is discouraged. Access to the alley in the middle of the lot will remain unimpeded. The work is expected to be completed within four to six weeks. Inclement weather or unforeseen conditions could delay or extend the estimated work time.
The City currently manages 11 public parking lots located in the Downtown Square Business and Dickson Street Entertainment Districts. The surface lots are asphalt that periodically require general maintenance such as crack seal, seal coat, restriping, patching, and bumper block replacements. More comprehensive maintenance occurs on a less frequent basis. Scheduled maintenance for this project includes milling, repair of failed areas, resurfacing, asphalt overlay, and retaining wall replacement.
The Off-Street Parking Development District No. 1 entity owns three parking lots in the Downtown Square area, including the Block Avenue lot, and leases them to the City. The City operates the revenue-producing off-street parking lots consistent with other municipal lots. The City equips the lots with parking equipment, provides enforcement, and remits collected net revenues back to the Off-Street Parking Development District.

This maintenance project has been scheduled to create as minimal impact as possible on users and the Parking Management Division appreciates your patience as these improvements are made.
