City Council, Planning Commission To Be Conducted Virtually

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As COVID-19 continues to spread across Arkansas, the City of Fayetteville will move to virtual access for upcoming City Council and Planning Commission meetings. Virtual meetings will be used until further notice to support the practice of social distancing.

City Hall is currently closed to the public, but the City remains committed to providing opportunities for residents to publicly comment on items being considered. In advance of these meetings, a sign will be posted on the front doors of City Hall alerting the public to how they may join.

The Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for Monday, March 23 at 5:30 p.m. will be the first virtual meeting held by the city. Members of the public are encouraged to join the meeting and share comments. The public may submit comments in advance of the meeting to planning@fayetteville-ar.gov. Comments received via email will be read aloud by staff during Monday’s meeting. As this is the first meeting to be conducted virtually, City staff asks all attendees to be aware that technical challenges may occur and be worked out during the meeting.

An ordinance passed earlier this week allows the Mayor to temporarily permit the use of virtual meetings for City Council and Planning Commission in place of in-person meetings, as long as public comment and participation are accommodated.

Please check the City’s www.fayetteville-ar.gov/covid19 webpage and sub-webpages to keep up to date on announcements and information for Fayetteville.
