Revised Fayetteville Mask Ordinance Approved by City Council
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An ordinance to revise and reinstate Fayetteville’s mask mandate was passed by City Council at a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The ordinance was brought forward by Councilmember Teresa Turk and cites surging COVID-19 infections, concerns about health care resources and the number of residents not fully vaccinated as reasons to resume a city-wide mask requirement.
Ordinance 6522 requires “persons to wear face masks in public service areas in City owned buildings and places of public accommodation subject to reasonable exemptions.” The ordinance is effective immediately and does not include a means of enforcing compliance outside of City-owned buildings.
