City Counting Bicyclist Use for Grant Requirements
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville is recording roadway use by bicyclists at the intersection of Old Wire Road and E. Township Street from Jan. 26 through Feb. 2. The equipment uses a wide-angle view and time-lapse recording; it does not focus on individuals.
The City is gathering baseline-use data as part of a grant requirement for bicycle infrastructure improvements. From Old Wire Road and Mission Boulevard, the Niokaska Creek Trail will travel along Old Wire Road, through Gulley Park, and connect to the Mud Creek Trail at Old Missouri Road. This trail will be over three miles in length and connect an estimated 4,000 residents within 1/4 mile of the new trail.
