Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Green Acres Road Improvements
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— The City of Fayetteville invites the public to join Mayor Lioneld Jordan for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of sidewalk and drainage improvements on Green Acres Road. The event is at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 1 near the corner of Green Acres Road and Poplar Street.
A 5-foot-wide sidewalk, curb with gutter, and underground storm drain piping was installed along the west side of Green Acres Road from Colt Square to N. College Avenue. The sidewalk provides pedestrian and bicyclist access to businesses and connections to Woodland Junior High School and Fayetteville Montessori School.
The sidewalk will connect with future projects such as
71B Corridor Plan and the Sublett Creek Trail which proposed in question three of the
2019 Bond. Building important sidewalk connections near schools, residences, and businesses meets several goals in both the
Fayetteville Mobility Plan and the
Active Transportation Plan.
The Green Acres Road Improvement project was funded through the City’s Street Fund which is financed through two sources:
- Turn-back revenues from the State of Arkansas (the State collects motor fuel taxes, which are returned to the City on a per-capita basis)
- Turn-back monies received from the County Road Millage Tax (the City receives 80% of the road millage levied by the Quorum Court on real and personal property located within city limits)
